We attach great importance to the privacy of our visitors. The personal data which future visitors share with Fort Eben-Emael is used solely for the purposes of the administration and organisation of the requested visit, tour or event. These data is shared with third parties only if it is necessary to obtain a service for which we need to call upon a third party as part of your request to visit or in order to comply with statutory obligations.

We process your personal data because you are using our services or because you have given us your data by making a booking request or by contacting us by e-mail or via our website at www.fort-eben-emael.be.  By processing we mean the collection, storage, maintenance, adaptation and consultation of personal data.  The personal data processed by us includes:

  • possible connections with an association or a company

These personal data is stored for no longer than necessary to achieve the purposes for which we received the data.

Photos and filming

Visitors are filmed inside the fort and at the site of the fort as part of CCTV surveillance for security reasons. Fort Eben-Emael may use these the images obtained for promotional purposes. To comply with the GDPR legislation, we will take every care to avoid the possibility of identifying individuals on these images.

Security

Fort Eben-Emael has taken appropriate measures to protect your personal data, such as:

  • physical access control to the fort and certain rooms within the fort by means of keys and code locks
  • maintaining an an intrusion alarm
  • limited access to data through the management of appropriate authorisation and through password control

By becoming a member or volunteering as a guide, the member or the guide accepts that a collaboration agreement exists between themselves and Fort Eben-Emael. Consequently, the processing of personal data of our members and guides is necessary to perform a contract.

The following personal data of our members and guides is processed by us:

  • first name and surname
  • address
  • e-mail
  • phone number
  • date and place of birth
  • gender
  • language(s) spoken

The personal data is only used internally for the organisation, the proper operation and management of the association, the visits, tours, events and activities organised by Fort Eben-Emael or those in which it is involved, as well as for dispatching the member’s magazine and information about the association. It is shared with third parties only so to comply with our statutory obligations.

The member or guide has the right to access or correct his or her personal data. The member or guide has the right to access or correct his or her personal data. Requesting the deletion of personal data automatically entails the cancellation of the cooperation contract between the member or the guide and Fort Eben-Emael not-for-profit organisation.

Beyond these specific provisions, Fort Eben-Emael not-for-profit organisation’s general privacy policy applies.

Specific privacy statement for extras who participate in events and activities organised by Fort Eben-Emael not-for-profit organisation

By participating in events and activities organised by the Fort Eben-Emael not-for-profit organisation, the participant – extra accepts that a cooperation contract exists between them and Fort Eben-Emael not-for-profit organisation. The processing of participants’ and extras’ personal data is consequently carried out on a contractual basis.

The following personal data of the participant – extra – are processed by us:

  • first name and surname
  • address
  • e-mail
  • phone number
  • date of birth
  • sexe
  • language
  • the national number for Belgian residents

The personal data of the participant – extra are only used internally for events or activities organised by Fort Eben-Emael not-for-profit organisation and are only shared with third parties in order to comply with statutory obligations.

The participant – extra has the right to access or correct their personal data. The participant – extra has the right to access or correct their personal data. Requesting the deletion of personal data automatically entails the cancellation of the cooperation contract between the extra and Fort Eben-Emael not-for-profit organisation.
